About Susannah
I have been a beauty and wellbeing editor for almost 25 years. I learnt the ropes on the launch of Glamour magazine where I worked my way up to become beauty editor and went on to be beauty and wellbeing editor at Vogue where I was lucky enough to collaborate with some of the leading photographers, makeup artists and wellness experts in the world. I then went on to co-found the beauty and wellbeing platform Getthegloss.com where I was thrown in the digital deep end.
Throughout my career I have worked for many publications as a freelancer including The Times, The Telegraph, Grazia and YOU magazine, and today pour all of my knowledge and love of beautiful visuals into The Glow Gazette, my newsletter which takes a very holistic approach to beauty and wellness. I have also just launched by first podcast, ‘Ways to Feel More Human’ which is about how to thrive in a digitally dominated world.
Wellness
One of my favourite sayings about wellbeing is ‘You can’t paper over the cracks.’ What I mean by that is that you can’t just apply an expensive foundation and hope to look or feel amazing. Health comes first and foremost and it’s vital we nourish ourselves from the inside out. I’m not just talking nutritionally and physically, but mentally and spiritually too which is why my strapline for The Glow Gazette is ‘Skin, Soul and Sanity’. I am a huge advocate of selfcare and believe it is vital in order to thrive in our digital and overwhelming age.
Beauty
Makeup and skincare, for me are not a frivolous luxury, they are an essential part of my selfcare, feelgood regime and I am a huge fan of earth friendly, clean formulations, as well as brands with soul and stories to tell. My motto about beauty is ‘less is more.’ I don’t believe we need 10-step skincare routines, nor being overly aggressive with our skin. I am also obsessed with the ‘no-makeup makeup’ look and have more skin glow products than I dare to mention.
Susannah Taylor Studio
Being creative is hugely important to me and aside from being and editor and journalist, I am also an illustrator. Painting and drawing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child I was virtually never without a paintbrush in my hand and studied at St Martins School of Art. I work closely with brands to create unique designs and have worked with Bramley, Kloris, Calecim and Emma Hardie to name a few. Nothing fills me with more joy than a blank piece of paper and a pencil!
